In channel vs stick on's, lets hear some opinions, and some boasts for good ones. canadian guy lots of ice and snow to deal with, going on a 07 f150 supercrew.
just ordered a set of in channels from AutoAnything. They're usually quick and I can't wait to stop the rain from dripping onto my component door speakers so I'll install and post results as soon as received. They're made by Weathertech and a little pricey at about 55 bucks a pair, hope they work well.
Hey madman, the weathertechs showed up today when I got in. Put them on in about 3 minutes, actually had good instructions. Factory perfect fit although I'd be careful in the cold as you have to give them a pretty good bend but no tapes or adhesives. They look like they came with the vehicle. The last 1/8" or so of window travel is a little snug, they tell you to keep windows closed for first 12 hours, seems like something that will wear/heat into place. Worth the $$, I vote that you get them. Its so much cleaner than a stick on and being behind the factory rubber pretty much assures they won't leak. Another note is your side view changes noticeably but not by much. Should get used to it pretty quick.
every one i know has tape on. they all love them. i know a guy who got in channel and HATED them. with the in channel ones, they make your window hard and slow to get up and down. it also puts more strain on your window motor and can eventually burn it up! and they cost around $200. i know from experiance. cant go wrong with the tape on. and they are on there good. they aint comeing off. AVS i think are the best ones
Weather techs are very pliable even in the cooler months in florida, I think I've only broke one set out of the 50 or so I've done. EGR wasn't quite as pliable, but the only vehicle that I ever had issues with was the Sport trac.
After a day of the window being up (probably longer in cold areas), the felt window seal settles and makes a good fit. After about a week, the window rolls up and down just about like it did before. I've had weather techs in my windows for 7 years and my motors are just fine. Weather tech machines the lip, but even the thicker lipped EGRs conform the rubber/felt and the tension fades back to normal after a short while.
