a friend of mine had the same symtoms with his trans as u do. the problem with his was the plastic wear pad on the end of one certain shift fork wore out letting the fork ride metal to metal on the shaft.the guys at the trans shop told him it was common and the best prevenitive measure to take so it would not happen so often was to not hold the shifter unless u are actually shifting.
