Manifold Studs
Got my Headers on my 99 4.6 F-150. Had 3 Broken studs flush with the head. Most shops wouldn't touch it and only one dealership would attempt it without pulling the heads for $400. The mechanic that handles this issue called in sick for two days in a row so I picked my truck back up and decided to do it myself. Let them soak for a day with penetrating oil (marvel) and drilled and used an easy out (#2). Bought a $20 close quarter drill from HF and went to work. Took me an average of 15 minutes a stud. It took longer to unbolt the motor mount and jack up the motor for clearance. Even with a broken drill bit going into my thumb not worth $400 and that was cheap (holding the centering bolt with a hole in the center). Thank god the guy kept calling in sick, sorry just had to vent

i know what u mean!!!! i had mine done but it was very reasonable i thought, but i have been checkin on getting my oil leak issue fixed. one guy i know says he has never done it and it will probly be around $1000, the other people who have done it want $3000 dollars. the issue at hand is the oil leaking head gasket. what a crock i can get a rebuilt moter and installed for 3g's
