About 2 months ago i replaced my A/C clutch. i shimmed it out about 4thousands and it cycled on and off fine. last week i went to use my ac for the first time since and it didn't work.the clutch is staying disengaged. i took the shims out and tried it and the clutch stayed engaged and never cycled off. i tried the smallest shim in the kit and the clutch just barely spun like about a quarter of the way around and stopped. any help troubleshooting problem?
Im not sure without seeing it first hand. But most clutches on the Ford dont fail. If the clutch failed it is usually because the bearings in the compressor failed and the gap closed to the point that it burned up the clutch. In this case you need a compressor and filter flush of the system, accumulator, orifice, and new orings with system recharge.
i think it was compressor works. i bought it at auto zone.
Thought so. Take it back and order a Motorcraft instead.
I bought one of those and found that the length of the snout was wrong and it did exactly as you described. Unfortunately, I lost the receipt so I got screwed out of $35.
