Instrumentation and control ???
I am in the process of adapting a complete '97 Explorer dash with all the instrumentation and control into a custom '53 F-100 pickup. I am quite profecient in electriconic and electrical design and building so I decided that if I can find the right documentation I can design and build interface circuitry to make the new work with the old. I have the Ford wiring diagram books but they do not go into actual theory of operation nor do they have internal schematics of the instrument cluster and how it relates to the actual sensors. The wiring diagrams are great for finding and locating stuff, but that is as far as it goes.
Back in '93 I bought two new E-350 diesel vans and I also bought the complete documentation for them. There was a set of full size drawings that came with that stuff that is a lot of help. I was wondering if anyone know of anything like that for the Explorer.
I'm looking for info like what the signal types and values are. It may well be that some of the instrumentation is driven by outputs from the PCM. It would probably help if I could get some documentation regarding the PCM and the processes it uses to control and monitor.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Later Folks...
