I had a noise in the driveline and when I checked it the U joint bearings were good, however a little dry of grease. What kind of grease should I put in them?
As long as you push the old grease out (if greaseable joints) it doesn't really matter. Just use whatever you use in the ball joints/tie rods.
If they are not greaseable joints, then it's going to be a headache to repack and align all the little bearings. It's doable, and you use the same grease, but it's not to easy to put all the needles back in without loosing one or it not seating on the side of the cap.
I only use non-greaseable ujoints and I end up having to move the bearings during assembly in the shaft, so I end up having to do it anyway. I do agree though, if I could slap them in without messing with the bearings, it would be so much easier to just buy whole new joints.
New it will be. I have another questrion. I have a 2000 f-250 diesel auto 2 W/D and it shifts hard sometimes when pulling hard like onto the super slab. Do you know if the bands are adjustable with out getting too far into the trany?
