power steering promblems
i just bought a 78 f150 with a 351 cleveland. my promblem is my power steering in will turn right easy but to the left it has no power assist. it leaks fluid out the top of cap after steering. i was told hoses were replaced,before hoses were replaced i was told it worked fine after done it only works to the right.

Yeah its prob a 351M, but either way, that shouldn't matter in a problem with the steering. You said its leaking out the cap; is it just comming out, or is it all foamy- full of air bubbles? It could need bled out, or may have a leak somewhere thats sucking air in, or hears a dumb question- one that threw me for a loop for over a month, is it sitting on level ground? The system will not bleed the air out if it is pointing up hill. If you replaced the hoses on a hill, and the truck is still pointing up, all it will do is foam up the oil damn near intantly- pushing it out the cap. I learned that the hard way, and power assist also worked better going one way than the other. We moved the truck to level ground and within 5 minutes it worked like a champ. Made me feel pretty dumb, but it was fixed!
