Vacuum Problem
Ok guys need some help with 2004 f-250 6.8 4x4. When I step on the gas my air cuts out then blows defrost. I have checked all the vacuum lines found one that was off put it on and still have the problem. The dealership told me the "check valve" in the vacuum can was bad. Is their a check valve in the can or is it somewere else? Anyone know if I can get the check valve or can at NAPA. Thanks Palmer

my 2001 EX had the same problem. mine was bad auto locking hubs on the front. i replaced them with warn manual hubs and capped off the vacuum lines. the problem was fixed. the old auto hubs were gummed up so bad that you could not turn them with BIG channel locks. and the auto locking hubs were a Ford only part and $325.00 each. warn manuals were $190.00.

the guy that works on my EX had told me, there's also a seal around the auto hub that leaks vacuum. and there is a small vacuum control box on the fender wall that will sometimes go bad. my friend also had the vacuum can as a possible problem. it is/was annoying to have the air flow keep switching back and forth.
