what RPM does the drive-thru tune give you. if you are not getting a nice spray pattern due to old or dirty injectors then you may not be atomizing the fuel as well as you should, hence the excess fuel making the white smoke on exhaust. also the lower the rpm the lower the HPOP pressure so less force pushing the fuel out the injector. This is one example of where custom tuning is helpful.... I am sure Jody can comment on the tuning specifically but if you are getting more smoke than others running this tune then I would start to look for other causes...
In other words, the common denominator that is the same on all trucks is the tune so if the tune for most is not causing excessive smoke then you have to look elsewhere for the pontential issue...
