dist install
I think I found my oil leak aftr replacing the valve cover gaskets it still leaks now I'm replacing the intake manifolds gaskets the last time I did this was 10 years ago however, the question is putting the distributor back in: I have a 71 302 with dura spark II as I remember piston up on the #1 piston (front left of block) point dist button at #1 spark plug and walah it drops in right? if I'm somewhat off could someone please reel me in.

Just make sure that # 1 piston it up on the "compression" stroke. A good cross check is that the timing mark will be on TDC. I have had to have someone push down on the dist. while I bump the engine over to get the dist. to drop completely in.
