I just swapped an engine from 02 F150 4.2 to a 03 4.2. It turns over but no fire. Got fuel at the rail. It seems to be the acting the same way when I had to get new keys to match the cpu. Anyways anyone know if the cpu has to be swapped or reprogrammed after this swap. The only difference was it was an 02 and auto tranny?
If only the motor was changed and is the same in every respect, you may have missed setting up the distributor properly or pluging in a key sensor.
The PCM must have a proper cranking position signal to sync the fire order and operate the injectors in sequence as well as power the fuel pump during cranking.
In any event don't change the PCM because it needs to match the dash located anti theft device or the PCM dosn't get he right info to allow starting as it is designed to do as well as match the ignition key code.
