noise under hood
'99 4x2, automatic, 3.0, 106,000 miles.
My noise comes from the pulley area. It is a metallic clicking sound while accelerating and it stops when I let up on the gas and coast. Just checked it in the driveway with the hood up after hearing it all the way home. Engine has to be revved pretty good if in park to hear it. I'm thinking a bearing in a pulley. Just put a new belt and idler pulley on three weeks ago but not the tensioner pulley which was done about 30,000 miles ago. Don't see any wobble down there and a/c still works and has never been recharged. When the old idler pulley went bad it screeched, didn't click. What is it?
