TPMS question

When running my truck empty I like to get the air pressure in the rear tires down in the 40 psi range so it doesnt ride like a tank! Is there any way to recalibrate the TPMS so as to not have a low pressure warning? Can sensors from other vehicles with lower pressures be used or can the truck be reprogrammed? Any other solutions - heard of removing the sensors and putting them in a pressurized sleeve so they dont signal low pressure.

I know you are in Canada where I believe the regulations are different, but this was a SSM put out by Ford to its techs on the topic of TPMS. As far as I know Ford is taking the same stance when it comes to Canadian vehicles as well...

As far as changing the sensors, that will not work as the pressure set points are stored in the IC module on the vehicle and not on the sensors them self...

2006-2008 VEHICLES - TPMS CANNOT BE TURNED OFF OR REPROGRAMMED

2006-2008 VEHICLES WITH TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM (TPMS) CANNOT BE DISABLED OR REPROGRAMMED TO A LOWER OR HIGHER TIRE PRESSURE. THIS SYSTEM IS REQUIRED BY FEDERAL REGULATION. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS DEALERS FROM DISABLING TPMS. IF A DEALER DISABLES TPMS, THE DEALER CAN BE SUBJECT TO FINES OF $6,000 PER VEHICLE. AFTERMARKET WHEELS AND TIRES ARE NOT RECOMMENDED. REFER CUSTOMERS TO THEIR OWNERS GUIDE FOR COMPLETE DETAILS.
