97 F-150/4.6.
Starting it and the backfire up through the intake occured. Stopped that engine in a Jerk!
Started on the second try though.
I never heard of a Computer controlled engine backfiring.
Got any ideas on this one?
Fuel leaking from pressure into the cylinder while off? I never heard of a non-carburated engine backfiring. I'll be watching this to see what the pros say.
I've never smelled any fuel around the engine (or the whole truck for that matter)
It does lose Anti-freeze over time. Probably a couple quarts over a 20,000 mile period.
It's had a check engine lite on ever since I've owned it. Something about the EGR.
It still gets 14 Mpg and only sometimes does it miss in the mornings till its gone a quarter mile or so.
It has a myriad of other small faults but they are not engine related.
