VaSheriff, I got mine in 4 days from them to here in NW Indiana. Gonna try and install it on Monday. I think I will tap the power for the camera from the reverse lights, so it doesn't come on until I back up...
A friend is an electrical engineer who works on all sorts of broadcast TV gear...and he just put on in his 1968 Land Rover.
His is working fine...and he explained. It seems that the power cords for both the camera and the monitor are the antennas. When installing....stretching out as much as possible each wire...perhaps across the back and across the dash will allow a better picture.
Cardiac69...good point. What my friend suggested was that many folks would wrap the "extra" wiring up and zip-tie it together....certainly not helping the reception.
I just sold mine for $20 on Craiglist that I had for the past few years as it was not working well on the wireless reception part. And yes, my wires were all wrapped together as I had no idea that was part of the antenna.
If I were to keep it, I was going to somehow hard wired the monitor and camera, but really couldn't figure out what was the easiest way. Oh well. This is an excellent price though as I had paid twice that just a few years ago.
We'll see how it goes. I did a quick check on craigslist and they are being sold at 90 bucks! I figure I can attach this to the rear of my GN when it is on the trailer so I can see behind the trailer.
I have been starting to research backup cameras for my EX, I was wanting to find one that works with my Garmin 850 GPS.
Dunerunner, Peak ?? is there a site to look at for it?
I bought the 3.5" Peak branded one. It has lousy reception but again, nothing mentioned about the wiring being the antenna so mine are coiled and zip tied. I guess I will open them up and mount the sender closer to the cab to try and help. I can't even back up to my garage with it, the screen just jumps around.
Sarge, I had a hard time finding reviews and such on wireless cameras. Cnet.com has a few reviews. I just ended up getting the one from Geeks for $49.99
