OK. lets see if I can explain this without pics(cause I dont know how to load them). While taking down my 351m, I pulled the manifold off. down in the valley I seen all the push rods, (ok you dont have to say it DUH right). well on the the wall going up out off the valley towards where the thermostat and distributor are, there is a hole that is about the size of a dime. Now i see the four holes in the floor of the valley but those are supposed to be there. this hole you can tell was busted out. if I shine a light through it, I can take off my timing cover and see the light. so at least I know its not going into the antifreeze. the truck ran very good when i parked it about 8 years ago, so it had to have been there then. Now to the actuall question. Is this going to be a problem or should i just continue replacing all the gaskets and get it running. thanks for any input.
I'm not sure if all of the 335 series have them. But they are in every later model truck engine (351/400) I've had apart.
I read a while back that it is a oil relief for the distributor. Not sure if that is true or not. But it is normal.
LOL, My first cleveland I pulled apart had that. Thought oh crap this block is damaged. Then the second and third engine had the same hole and I was able to sleep better at night, lol.
