I found a truck I really wanna buy. 1996 x- cab F-150 4x4 6 inch lift 32 inch tires 351 auto od. I like to think that I could get 13 MPG with this truck. Who wants assist in my delusions of MPG grandeur?
are the gears stock? what ratio? Are you talking highway or town mileage? my 95 f150 5.0 with 33's and stock gears gets 10 mpg if i baby it and don't cackle the pipes too much. might be some better with the 351 because it doesn't have to work as hard as my 5.0,but i wouldn't think it would be that much difference.
Well the the first few months I own it my mileage will suck because I have been out of a truck (besides a dakota) for over a year and this would be my first 4x4. But I settle down pretty good.
i dunno man, my 93 with 5.0 and 3/4ton suspension and AOD got at best 10mpg highway... but of course that was driving in vermont where its one steep hill after another..
Well I really dont need this much truck right now but theres no tellin what gas prices will do so i may as well drive a beast while I can afford it. Besides I'll have when I get around to gettin a boat and buildin a mud truck cause i'll need somethin to pull it with.
it may be able to get that if the OD works and has 3.55 or 3.73 gears. If it has 4.10's I'm doubting it unless the motor is in good shape (no rigging of vacuum lines, bad O2, out of time, etc...)
Yeah im prepared to spend lots of time at gas stations. It does have 190,000 miles on it so they will have to come way down on the price. right now askin' 4200. Although it is in very good condition.
I'm still trying to figure out why it needs 6" of lift to clear 32" tires. Last I checked 32's fit ok without a lift. You could probably get 13mpg as long as you dont put the proper sized tires on.
