That's a sweet looking cover. I like the tool tray too. The only issue for me would be the fact that it covers a good part of the rails. It doesn't look from the pics that the pocket holes would still be accessible with this cover on, so one couldn't install a rack above?
ok DUDE, I'm just trying to help. you guys keep talking about the cover, but no body has ever mentioned it on here before, that's all I'm saying. You seem sold on it, so again, buy it and let us know by posting a detailed review about it. Those are nice pics that you posted, that helps....
i'm a tight wad so we'll see about cost first and i did'nt mean to come off as mouthy but all i asked was does anybody have a g4 fold a cover and then i get this buy a bakflip stuff its better, its stronger, better warrantee, the g4 is a copy of the hd, so your reply should have been one word, no. i more than likely will get some other brand thats cheaper like extang or truxedo. i just wanted to see if anybody had a g4, and so far nobody does.
You were first trying to compare the metal G4 to the Bakflip plastic G2 (instead of metal HD), so that's why I started posting that additional info about the Bakflip HD to set you straight. Helps to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges...
but now you're going to cheap out and buy a soft cover, make up your mind already, GEEZ...
My vote is for the FoldACover. The Bakflip does not have a history of being a quality product. Now, the aluminum Bakflip might be better, but it's too early to tell. FoldACover has been around a long time and is known to be a quality product.
^tell us what you heard about the Bakflip covers? I bought mine based on reviews on this site and another F150 forum and most seemed to like them, although not many had the metal/aluminum HD yet. I have personal experience in owning the Advance aluminum folding cover, RollnLock rolling cover, and some fiberglass hard covers, all have their pros and cons.
I actually do remember FoldACover now from back in the 90's and they had a plastic tri-panel folding cover and it was a piece of junk. I recall knowing 2 people that had them and they hated them. But times have changed I suppose, this G4 seems good...

i'm not getting a bakflip anything so get over it dude.

Typically, they leak or fall apart within the first year. Bad reviews are not hard to find. I have nothing against the company, that's just the way it is.
Truckdaddy, very interesting photos, thanks for sharing. Since I already have the new HD cover, we'll see how it lasts. at least it has a 3 year warranty.
jda1961, whatever man, I'm not telling to you to buy a Bakflip. Whatever you buy, just post back to let everyone know in order to help others in their tonneau cover search...
^^Truckdaddy, where did you get those photos from? I contacted my source where I bought my cover and emailed him those photos, and he was actually aware of that particular cover. He said that cover is one of the original G1 covers from several years ago, and that cover's owner was contacted and offered a replacement but he never responded? And he said the issues have since been addressed in revised covers, G2, and now the HD.
i'm not real big on either type, i had a pace edwards cover on my superduty and it was ok, but i bought the cheaper one and it was a pain sometimes. its a good concept though. still looking around. they make 3 diffrerent models, a plain one, a jackrabbit, a jackrabbit all metal, and a bedlocker model. 1700 bucks for the top of the line model, i'm not a doctor so i can't afford it, a jackrabbit all metal might be in my future. the bakflip is a definate no, and the fold a cover is still a maybe.

I don't recall, but I'll see if I can figure it out.
Here's two more pics of a G2 from another owner that has some problems:
Yeah, I saw those pictures before I ordered, but Bakflip redesigned their whole line to address early issues and lists many improvements on their website. It makes me a little more comfortable buying a third generation product that has been field tested than one that is new to the market. That said, it appears the G4 product has been on the market for awhile too, so there should be some user data on it. That's what is great about these forums...problems WILL get back to the manufacturer and you know they are in it for the long haul when they listen and make changes. There are so many choices for tonneau covers out there, it really depends on how you use your bed. The most ridiculous one I've seen, for me, is one that retracts electronically. I mean really, are we that rich and lazy???
