Hey guys the plastic gear in my power window motor is broke. When I took the door skin off to replace it I couldnt figure out how to get the thing out. There arent any bolts or anything. WTF! Can anyone help??
if its the original you will probably have to drill teh rivits out for the window gear. you will have to remove the motor and crank assembly as one unit. then eather bolt or rivit it back into place
Look closely at the sheetmetal of the door in front of the motor and you'll see 3 divots, drill these out to get access to the bolts that attach the motor to the regulator(right pic). Before removing the motor prop up the window glass with a stick so it doesn't drop, and be carefull when putting you hand inside the door all the edges are razor sharp. The bolts circled in the left pic replace the rivits attaching the whole assembly to the door, I converted these doors from manual to power, so you don't have to remove everything to get the motor out.
If motor works fine in both directions you will probaly only need the 3 plastic pins- big gear will be ok--pins just busted up.(remove 1 phillips screw and cover off removed motor) Pins availible at Advance auto,Pep boys, Auto zone, etc in the HELP parts section for around $8---new gear drive assembly is $25 and up.
