Thumbs up I Need Your Recommendations

I just got a list together of what I'd really like to do with my truck. I'm not doing anything major, really, but stuff is broken and I'd really like to fix it.

I need:

-A new power booster (and maybe master cylinder), are there any companies that make them more reliable than others? Otherwise I was just going to order the two together off of autozone.com.

-Weatherstripping for the driver's side and passenger side windows. The rubber is rotted all the way around on both sides. Any place I could buy kits that would have everything I need?

-Turn signal switch. From what I hear, I can buy these at any parts store for like $3, so I'm good for this one. Where can I get a steering wheel puller, though?

-A new set of wiper blade arms, because the ones I keep getting from my place of inspection continue to break. I want them to look as stock as possible (no weird holes or curves or fancy designs, just basic straight blades), does anyone know where to get these? I've looked, but I haven't found any of what I just described.

-New battery, I've heard Motorcraft makes good batteries, so I'll just get one of those. Hopefully I won't need new cables.

So, can anyone help out here?

you might want to double check the price on a turn signal switch. When i priced them they were 124.00 from autozone.

Hah, whoops! I meant a cancelling cam for the inside of the steering column, not a whole switch. I've heard they run like $10? I don't know what I was talking about when I said $3, must have mixed it up with something else in my mind,

The weather stripping kit you can order from LMC. You need just the blade assembly or the whole arm? The wiper blades you can get at any parts store. If you need the arm try the wrecking yard or a well supplied parts store. You need a arm for an 80-90 model. LMC also has them for less than $20 each. You dont really need to go with a Motorcraft battery, Interstate makes a good battery, and there is the Optima battery that can be a little pricey, but is very reliable and it wont leak even upside down. If you have to replace the cables, it really isnt a big deal, because it is cheap and easy to do.

I had a bad experience with one of those generic parts store canceling cams. It actually made my situation worse. I would get a whole new switch, even if you get one from a junkyard, you would be better off.

I'd check the local salvage yard for some of this stuff. Obviously the weatherstripping and battery should be new.

For a battery I would go with an Interstate, the demo derby car I'm been building has been sitting for over 4 years, and the battery has been exposed the whole time, I put it one a charger overnight, and she still holds a charge and that has been a week ago.

I don't order any parts from vatozone, I mainly go to a local owned shop, but sometimes I go to O'reillys, I've had much better luck with them.

Napa had the entire wiper arm (I guess your talking about the blade and the blade holder)

If your near a Harbor Freight store (the discount tool store) mine is selling a steering wheel puller kit for $19. Just an idea...

POWER BOOSTER: IN MY EXPERIENCE, PARTS FROM ADVANCE AND AUTOZONE DON'T SEEM TO HOLD UP AS WELL AS THOSE FROM NAPA, ETC. SOMETIMES THERE IS A NOTABLE PRICE DIFFERNCE, BUT YOU USUALLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

WEATHERSTRIPPING: I'VE HAD GOOD LUCK WITH LMC TRUCK FOR PARTS LIKE THESE.

TURN SIGNAL SWITCH (CANCELLING CAM): AGAIN YOU CAN GET THEM AT AUTOZONE, ETC, BUT I WOULD SUGGEST CHECKING A BONEYARD FIRST, AS THE FACTORY FORD PARTS SEEM TO LAST LONGER.

WIPER BLADE ARMS: AGAIN, CHECK THE BONEYARD OR A QUALITY PARTS STORE IF YOU WANT NEW ONES

BATTERY: TOSS UP HERE, IT WOULD DEPEND ON THE PRICE DIFFERENCE FOR ME. INTERSTATE MAKES A GOOD PRODUCT, BUT MOTORCRAFT WOULD LOOK COOL UNDER THE HOOD, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE TRYING TO KEEP THE TRUCK LOOKING AS ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE.

HOPE THIS HELPS
