Rear Axle Flip Tip
I read every post I could on here to see if there was a way to get back an inch or two so that you would not have to notch the frame to have adequate suspension travel. All I found though was everyone saying that it was not possible.
Well,I knew that with a 57-60 you could flip the rear hanger to get back almost 2". I tried that with the `61 but realized it wouldn`t work. So I got ahold of a set of 57-60 hangers for comparism. The 57-60`s are not as tall as the `61`s.
So I drilled new holes because the spacing is slightly wider, and bolted it up.....upside down. Bolted the spring in,and let the truck down.
I only did the one side for now,but it definately put that one side about 1.5" higher than the opposite side. Which left enough room for adequate suspension travel WITHOUT doing a C-Notch.
And it is still lowered more than enough in the ***-end.
So for those looking to do the axle flip and not wanting to C-Notch,get yourself a pair of rear spring hangers off of a 1957-1960 truck and mount them upside down.
