Looking at a 1996 XLT all power 4X4 Long Bed 160,000, overall good shape. Is it worth $4000.00? If it is anything I need to look for? Buying it for my son who turning sixteen. Thanks

is it a supercab? and also do you know what engine it has? with that many miles id say $4000 is a little too much.

personal opinion is that id say its a bit much due to the miles on it, something like that id say should go for $2000-$3000.

I bought a 1993 F150 XLT, reg cab, long box 4x4 with a 4.9 litre, auto (128,000) last week from a dealer. They were going to send it to an auction. Was traded in on a push, pull or drag sale. I started it up and heard the sweet sound of the inline 6, what a great engine. Then I opened up the glovebox... every receipt since new by it's prior owner. He even had a small notebook, every oil change was 2,500- 2,800 miles. Rustproofed when new and taken back every year for annual steam cleaning and respray. New brakes in January, etc... It's not often you see a truck maintained like this one, a rare find. Every option works too.

If the paint, body, interior are clean and it's a sound truck not in need of brakes/tires etc, $3500 would be a good price in my opinion. Especially if it has stuff like a towing package, or T-Lok rearend.

Auto trans? Look for any signs of rust, otherwise just look over everything like any other used car. Make sure 4WD engages/pulls.
