hello
does anyone know if the front u-joint is the same as the rear u-joint?
its for a '78 F250 with a c6 and a dana 60 rear end.
i have been to advance autoparts today and they told me they are the same.
i have a driveshaft from the junkjard and the rear u-joint has 2 bigger caps, that fitts the rear axel.
i'm from the netherlands and on vacantoin in the usa.
i can't check it on my truck.
the numbers from advance are 2-4800
the book i just looked at shows that the rear ujoint and middle ujoint (by carrier bearing) are the same and front one is different. It does not say anything about the caps being different sizes on any of them. I'm sure my part numbers wont do you any good. Are you trying to get parts while you're in the states? why not just have your parts store look it up when you get home?
then i would just have a parts store here look up ujoints for the driveshaft you have in your truck. not bother with junkyard shafts if you just need ujoints.
i have a 2 piece driveshaft on my truck now.
i have bought a overdrive from GV and have to shorten the driveshaft now.
i will not cutten the origional one.
whe have been in the usa in 2006 and there are many '70 trucks on the junkyards.
now we have been on many junkyards, but they have crushed all the old stuff.
i was glad that i found the parts that i can make a one piece driveshaft, but i saw on this forum that a long driveshaft is eaten the u-joints.
i will try to look further on other junkyards for the front part of a 2 piece driveshaft.
does the first part of a '80 truck fit the second part of a late '70 truck?
most junkyards have still '80 trucks.
