i have a new radiator hose on there just put it on....what you mean around the belt???
There is a hose available that goes around the serp belt instead of through it- it you changed your belt w/o having to unhook the upper rad hose you're fine.
Wanted to do that when I replaced my WP this past week, but noone locally had that type hose or even knew what the heck I was talkin about. Needed to git r done so I'll be takin the upper off if and when I need to change the belt.
If you have a Napa close by, give them this part number #NBH 9066. It's for trucks that came with the factory option of two alternators. Don't ask me why they got the better hose configuration verses us single alt guys...

My early 99 has a single alt. and the around the belt hose...
I just got that pointed out to me this weekend, I think I'm going to do that and take advantage and do the coolant change while I'm at it. I've had a couple of gallons of "lifetime..." coolant sitting in the shed. Is it really forever coolant?
Depends on the coolant... what you want is a diesel rated ELC (extended life coolant)- they can last up to 750k out of the bottle, more with some type of additive.
I'll have to look at it, I really don't know that much about coolant. I asked the guy at NAPA I did tell him what I was using it for and I wanted it to be a long while before I ever worried about it again since it was so much coolant. I do hope he got me the good stuff. I already got it and I can't really take it back months later.
