I got the Goodyear Gatorback from Checker Auto with no issues whatsoever other than that bad boy was $39 bucks.

I would also recommend changing the top radiator hose out to the around-the-belt style if you don't have that type already.

There is a hose available that goes around the serp belt instead of through it- it you changed your belt w/o having to unhook the upper rad hose you're fine.

If you have a Napa close by, give them this part number #NBH 9066. It's for trucks that came with the factory option of two alternators. Don't ask me why they got the better hose configuration verses us single alt guys...

I just got that pointed out to me this weekend, I think I'm going to do that and take advantage and do the coolant change while I'm at it. I've had a couple of gallons of "lifetime..." coolant sitting in the shed. Is it really forever coolant?

Depends on the coolant... what you want is a diesel rated ELC (extended life coolant)- they can last up to 750k out of the bottle, more with some type of additive.

I'll have to look at it, I really don't know that much about coolant. I asked the guy at NAPA I did tell him what I was using it for and I wanted it to be a long while before I ever worried about it again since it was so much coolant. I do hope he got me the good stuff. I already got it and I can't really take it back months later.
