I had a problem with my lights not coming on so I went to replace the headlight switch. When I got in there the plug that plugs into the switch was very hot and starting to melt. I replaced both the switch and the plug. My question is - could it be getting to hot from my running lights being on when I drive? I have added 5 lights on each side of my running boards (plus the stock lights on a 1 ton dwr) and my trailer has 12 led running lights. If it is because of my running lights what do I do about that?
Ok so I need to find the wire that comes out of the switch for the running lights and splice in a relay. I can do that. Any clue on where I can cut into or if on the switch which color wire to tap into?
deano teh way you use relays is to install the relays close to the lights with a larger hot wire and use your existing wire to trigger the relay.
Ford headlight switches a have always been terrible especially if you have added lights.
If you wire in the relays all the switch id doing is triggering the relays and they hardly pull any amps your headlights will be brighter also because they get full voltage.
