sticky starter???
In the past couple of days I will go out to the truck and try to start it and all I get is the click from the solenoid. I can go under the truck and tap on the starter and wiggle the wire around and then it starts fine. Does this mean the starter is going bad or maybe just a bad connection? I've redone the connection once before so I don't have a whole lot of wire down there to play with anymore. The truck is a 95 f150 351 4x4 with an e4od trans. any suggestions would be appreciated. I've thought about just hard wiring the starter to a button on the dash... don't know if that would really help though.

could be a bad connection on that small wire-the plug in one -I had to replace that wire-about a 2 foot section and a new end-next time try tapping it then try it-sometimes a small tap on the starter will mean it's going!

i'll try to figure out if its the wire or the starter. I replaced the starter about two years ago so I hope its not that, I broke one of the bolts off when I replaced it and never could get the broken one out so I hope i don't break the new one

I found out its the wire for the starter not the starter itself. I had to drive to the wife's school cause she couldn't get it to start and when I got under it all I did was move the wire for it over about an inch and it started. I think I'm going to just wire in a switch on the dash rather than try to chase that wire. How much power do I need to turn the starter over? I don't use the cigarette lighter in the truck so I was thinking of steeling its power supply, will this work?
