Wow, last night was a riot. Me and two friends went the car show here in Portland, Or. When we got to the FORD section, we didn't see any Lightnings. We were dissapointed, cuz that truck is a dream for all of us. So we decided to go to a Ford dealer and see if they had one there. So we pulled up and in front of us sat a brand new black 02 "L". We were definitely excited. So we were looking at it and the salesman that came out just happened to be the same guy that sold my mom her new Escape two months ago. He recognized me, and said "DO YOU WANT TO TAKE IT FOR A RIDE"!!! There was no way I was going to pass that opportunity up. So it was me driving, friend in the middle, and salesman on the passenger side. He even let me take my other friend for a ride after the first run. Anyways, during the ride he told me to punch it, and in a matter of seconds,if even that long, we went from 20 to 65mph just like that. Now I knew they were fast, but had no clue that they were that fast. I still can't believe that I got to drive a Lightning, you guys that have them are extremely lucky, maybe one day I will be one of the lucky ones. :P
Sucks that the salesman had to go with you. I was looking at a 99 Mustang GT a few months ago and the salesman let me take it out by myself. I didn't think that he would let me, as I'm 22!
He didn't even ask me if I knew how to drive a manual tranny!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Mar-02 AT 03:01 AM (EST)]Red Devil, keep in mind that as awesome as that first drive was, that new Lightning you drove was not even broken in yet. My 2001 L "woke up" at about 2K miles and it seems to get stronger each time I drive it.
