Spark Plug Wires
Also, as for plugs I have always had good luck with Bosch on previous vehicles, but was told to steer clear of them for the ranger and stick with Motorcraft or Autolite, is this true? Can anyone comment first hand?
TIA.
Yup the specified Motorcraft wires & the Fine Wire Double Platinum plugs are designed for our "Waste Spark" ignition system, which works the plugs & wires Twice as hard as the old distributor ignition system did, so our plugs & wires need to be desgned for that work load, lest they give up the ghost early on.
Look in the "Tech Info" thread, to read more about "Why Double Platinum Plugs", it's an informative read, lots of other good info there too, for your ride.
Others have used Autolite plugs & wires without problems, as Autolite makes Motorcraft plugs to Fords specifications.
I've chosen to use Motorcraft plugs & wires for both of my Ford rides, as they work real good, last a loooooong time & don't cost too much, at my local Motorcraft Distributor. Actually their cost is in line with other brands around here.
Anyway check out the "Tech Info" thread & give serious consideration to using Motorcraft ignition products for your Ford ride.
