need help with edge evolution

My friend just gave me his edge evolution that he used on his 2000 F-250. He just got worried about his auto transmission is all but it worked fine for him and he only used it a few times over the 6 months or so he's had it.

I just tried it in my 94 Powerstroke F-350 and it's telling me communication error every time I use any function on it.
I obviously have power to the DLC or the programmer wouldn't turn on.
My truck runs fine so the PCM must be fine right? I checked all the fuses and they are all fine. This programmer is the correct one for 94-2003. Anyone have any ideas?

I just wanted to load the tow program to see what it does but I don't really want to fry my computer. Edge seems to be in a meeting every time I call too. At least that's what the machine says. I have a real problem with talking to answering machines.

Anyway, just wondering if any of you have run into this before and could offer some advice.
Thanks.

Oh, Before anyone says it my truck IS a 7.3 Powerstroke. NOT the 7.3 IDI.

Call Bill at Power Hungry Performance. He used to work at Edge. Should be able to help you.

Thanks, I'll do that if I can't get edge on the phone this morning.

I have a new PCM for it in my garage that I was going to send out to the company you all keep recommending to do the reprogramming too. I forget their name. I'm going to keep the stock one under the backseat just in case after I get it.

I just want to figure out this edge programmer now and I'm just playing with it is all.

I had the same issue, it was the OBDII connector, on your connector, check the back and make sure the cap is on/seated and the the tabs that hold the back are seated. Mine had come loose, I pulled it off and tried to be sure the wires were all pushed back in and snug. Put the back back on and no issues since.

I got edge tech support on the phone this morning. No help at all. He said it just must not work on 94's. That's funny because it says it does on the box.

Anyway, I got it to work just fine on my 97 and installed the tow program. The power gain is noticeable and the transmission shifts different and much firmer. I asked that guy on the phone specifically if it modified the transmission at all and he told me no. Nice!

I didn't want it for my 97 though. It's got plenty of power as is. I will double check the connector on the 94 and see if the pins are pushed back or something again. It's possible.

Right after I got the program on my 97 this morning the water pump took a big dump on me, all over the driveway. I know it wasn't the programmer. Just my truck trying to tell me something. Now I have to rebuild the oil cooler and replace the water pump on that one.
