Hey guys I am just wondering if someone can tell me if a front solid axle out of a 2001 superduty will bolt up directly to a 1996 f-250? They both have leafs in the front. Or could someone tell me the measurement from one spring perch to the other so I can measure mine and see if its the same? Thanks alot, Mike
I don't know if the spring mounts are the same dimemsions but, the bolt pattern for the wheels is different. The pre-SDuty trucks used the tried and true 8 on 6.5"s, the SuperDuty trucks use an 8mmx170mm pattern. So even if the swap would work you'd have to buy new wheels for the front end, and you couldn't rotate tires from front to back because you'd have different bolt patterns on each end.
Just find a front D60 from a mid 80's (not sure in the start)-97 F350 and that'll go in w/o much hassle.
FYI an Sduty front axle from ANY truck (F350 or 250) will be a dana 50. Not very desirable.
They do make hub conversions to put 8 on 6.5 for the superduty axles but most don't do it because you would have to get different shafts and brake parts for the rear.
