Also has any one tryd to use truck batteries in them will they fit or are they too tall? I should be able to get a couple 925ccas fairly cheap at work. And my cable ends are all messed up so I would just change tem over rather than use adapters.
Group 31 is the big-rig battery, fits fine in a '80-'86 truck but likes to weld itself under the '87-'91 or the '92-'94 hood (or both, don't remember quite well. My buddy just put in two of those monsters in his '86 F250, they are like 975 CCA or so. You can probably run them fine if you insulate the terminals well. My buddy's batteries have threaded stud terminals, but he installed a new set of battery cables not too long ago and we he had them made out of 3-0 welding cable with ring-terminal ends so they bolt up directly to his batteries with no adapters.
I mesured today and none of the batteries we cary at work will fit we have 31s and 27 both are the same hight and I mesueda 31 10"rom the bottom to the topof the post no way it will fit unless I drive around with out a hood. It sucks sine i could get 925 31s for 70 bucks while the cheapest i've seen 65s is 98 bucks. And I dont realy have 140 bucks to spend on batteries let alone$196. This suck bought an engine put it in but cant drive the truck because i can't afford batteries.
I'll measure up mine tomorrow, cause I got a ton of snow on my hood now - the hood is actually higher than it looks right above the batteries, so 10" may just work provided you insulate the terminals and cable ends good...
Well darn sure its different - for some reason I thought you got a '91, even tho it says 1994 right there in your sig... What's the height between your battery tray bottom and that seam that runs along the top line of the fenders? IIRC that seam is as low as the hood goes, so anything below the seam is good usable space.
