A while back in a thread about e- brake cables, someone brought up a TSB about the auto adjusting pedal assembly on the 92 and later trucks. Does anyone have information about this TSB or have some way to bypass the auto adjust feature?
I go out this morning, set the brake and started it and then went back in the house. When I came back out, the truck was right up against the side door of the garage at an angle. It had wedged itself between my trailer and the house. Didn't damage the trailer, didn't hit the house, and thankfully (most important) my kids weren't wandering around. But now my truck has its first dent in 240K miles and I need a headlight door Apparently, my e brake decided not to hold.
I know I've mentioned that issue and the TSB for it at least once, but heck if I remember the TSB number... I'm liking your cat-eyes headlights idea tho

Yeah, I haven't been able to find anything on it yet.
She's my guard cat and as usual, in the middle of everything. Taking a break from harassing the dogs.
I've been wondering the same thing, Joe. I need to do a little junkyard scrounging to see if I can adapt one.
there is a TSB concerning the parking brake pedal assay... the TSB states that the self adjusting pawl does not line up with the teeth causing it to skip over teeth and/or bind causing not enough force to hold the truck... it calls for a new wedge to be installed... part # for the "lock-in-wedge" is F4TZ-2L780-D... the tsb states that if the problem still exists or the e-brake is still suspect to replace the whole assay....
From what I read of the TSB you can feel the e-brake skip over teeth as you apply it... this is the indication that there is a problem and causes the binding and insufficient holding of the brake...

hope thats helps...
Heck yeah that helps!!! Thanks! I dropped in to the Ford dealer and asked them about it. After 15 minutes of searching, the service writer says that he can't go back beyond 10 years. Sounds like this will solve my problem. Wish I would have looked into it a couple of months ago
Yep, I remember that conversation as well. I got the same setup as Dave's truck, and it also used to stay down when you push it down, unfortunately once it stayed down even after I released it - a high-speed angle grinder with a cut-off wheel fixed her for good
