Tow dollies
As my truck sits, it is equipped with an EFI 5.0, Mazda M5OD Transmission, and 3.08 rear gears. My main concern is this. Will I be able to pull this truck on a tow dolly this far (around 700 miles) back home, and will this harm my transmission. I know my clutch needs to be replcaced, but I don't want to have to do this in the middle of the trip home because I burnt the clutch.
I am trying to figure out how to get this truck home, as I don't want to have to pay to have somebody else transport it back here.
Thanks so much,
Kyle

I wouldn't recommend towing over 2000# with your set up, but since it's a one time deal you can probably get away with it.
My uncle had an F-150 set up like yours that he used for towing a stock car with a heavy trailer. (I don't know what his axle ratio was). It wasn't too long before he had to replace the clutch and throw-out bearing. So it can be done, but you see the sacrifices involved.
Depending on how you feel about the condition of your clutch, you should probably get that repaired before you make the trip. I suppose a lot depends on how many stops you have to make or how many hills you have to pull.
An alternate idea might be to rent the tow dolly, but take a buddy with you and try to drive the F-100 home. Then if it doesn't make it all the way, you can pull it on the dolly.

Thanks for the help.
I might also use my dads low-boy. You don't by any chance know if one of these trucks will fit on a 14 foot by 6 foot trailer do you?
Thanks again,
Kyle
