turbo question
i recently bought a 1993 f350 dually with 7.3 turbo. Sometimes it runs awesome and has good power and you can hear the turbo wine and then all of a sudden it run's like my old diesel with no turbo and looses its edge. is there something that will cause this to happen???? you can't hear the turbo wine when this happens.

yes new fuel filter, new lift pump and fresh fuel.
there is a vaccume operated actuator on the turbo what is it and there is what looks like a sending unit on the turbo what is it.
as far as smoke no not lots of black smoke
just no turbo whine and a lot less power

put it this way i have a 16 foot enclosed trailer which has a tool box and 90cc race quad in it and any slight grade i lose speed and my suburban 5.7 gasser did better than this im mad
can't hold 60mph or 50 if slightly steeper
but then all of a sudden every once in a while i can accelerate up a hill and have plenty of power

[I]f the waste gate was stuck open you would have lots of black smoke my guess would be this is some sort of fule problem. Check if the advance piston on the lower drivers side of the IP moves freely. Also does it do this on both tanks? And what condition is the ruber line going to the lift pump in?
