Help with ID numbers please

I cant remember where to look this up? My brother bought a 47 and the data tag in the glove box reads: 71G0 3 25003 7 G C (3 could be an 8?) (c could be a G?)

Anyone help?

Thanks!

You can try looking on this site:

1947 Ford US Built VIN

The serial and the engine number are the same on a 1947 Ford truck. It is stamped into the clutch housing and visible when the transmission cover is removed. It is also on the top left side of the frame near the steering gear.

The first digit is a 7 for the year 1947.

The second digit for all 8-cylinder powered trucks is a 9. The second digit for the 6-cylinder trucks is 1(one).

The Letter identifies the model line: A=Passenger Car, C=1/2 Ton pickup and Y=1 Ton. (there was no "G")

The last 6 digits indicate the production sequence.

So:
7= 1947
1= 6 cyl engine
C= 1/2 ton pick-up
25003 = the production sequence number

7GC again is the model number for a 1947, 6 cylinder, 1/2 ton Pick-up of 114" wheel base rated at 4700 GVW.
