regeneration

Does it harm the engine to turn it off before the regeneration cycle is complete?

No. However, you may wish to let it idle and cool a bit first.

You do need to let it complete sometime though otherwise it will just come back and may evently tell you that you must do it.

If you arent able to complete the regen definitely let it idle a bit to cool down. A regen will create upwards of 1400 degrees EGT and they generally recommend cooling down to 500 degrees or less before turning the engine off.
