This has been an ongoing problem with my truck and its really starting to get to me. My friend with the AE program cannot get it to read my truck. We have one time by putting in a spare PCM and got it to connect. BUT, I went there tonight and we put the same PCM in that we used last time and again, wont connect!
It is not his software either, we tried it out on 3 different vehicles. It worked on all 3, just not mine.
Does anyone have any clue to what this problem could be? I dont want to buy a new plug and trace all the wiring if there is a simpler fix.
Thanks
Kevin,
Did you try AE on 3 other OBS trucks, or were they Super Duties?
When I got my AE, it is not set up for the older non-OBD-II trucks, had to make settings changes then it worked fine. And I did test it on a '95 once, too.

Yes, it was on OBS trucks. None 95 though. 96 or 97's. I'm sending my PCM up to DP tuner to have it reflashed but I do not think it is going to solve my issue.
And Rodney, I will check # 16, but I believe its good, and I just looked, the guy before me disconnected the cig lighter.
#16 is good, I'm starting to think a short in the wire somewhere. I can ohm the prongs in the connector to find out, right. And if so what should they ohm at? 0?
Check for voltage at the #16 pin in the connector, it's on the bottom row at the far right and should be 12V
What does AE do when you try to connect?
I will check that pin first thing in the mornin. Scott is the one who runs the computer so I dont know for sure but I believe when you try to connect a lot of different things run down the screen, I couldnt read them cuz I was lookin over his shoulder. Then says something in the lines of its not plugged in or no contact with PCM.

Could be just the AE or Windoze software problem. Mine does that every once in a while and I just re-boot the computer.

Just checked it, have 12.5 at the #16 pin, that is the same voltage at the batts. I checked them all though and that was the only one with voltage.

We thought this too so he upgraded his software a little while back the newest version. Tried this last time, fifth separate attempt I believe, and same issue. Couldnt get a connect on my truck so he tried his, a 96 PSD, connected on first try. Back to my truck and same issues. I guess my next step is getting my PCM to Jody this week. That doesnt seem that it will help though because I am running a known good PCM from jody right now, just until I get my original back.
Figured I would give an update. I sent my PCM to power hungry performance last monday. It will be here this tuesday hopefully. And my new injectors this wednesday. But I cant put the PCM in til I get the new injectors its burned for. Didnt get a chip just had re-flashed to latest program and a modified program added to the PCM for injectors. As soon as I install it all I will run over and try to scan again and let yall know the results.
