e4od not shifting into 3rd
I have a 92 xlt 5.0 with an e4od had stock trans rebuilt at 186k and again at 204k, it laid down again so I bought 1 from reputable salvage yard for 500 changed filter and fluid installed my new solenoid pack and old valve bodies since i had installed shift kit in valve bodies in used trans. Drove fine for about 2 weeks then would not shift right and stopped shifting into 3rd, flushed tranny and cooler, still having same problem, wondering since old valve bodies are from transmission that planetary gear incinerated in if it would be worth trying to rebuild valve bodies since they are known for trouble. Willing to try anything because i want to redo entire truck but can not proceed until i get a working trans. thanks Chip

I am not a transmission expert but the first thing I would do is pull any stored error codes, the computer may know what is wrong. If you don`t have a code reader you can go to fordfuelinjection.com for instructions on how to get them without one.
