Im looking to replace my worn 94 f-150 That I use to tow my 20' boat with a 97-00 Expedition and have a few I have ben looking at.. What are some of the specific issues known on these that I should be looking for.. Any help will be appeciated.. I know the basics so just looking for specific issues known with these trucks.. Thanks..
Check for leaks, oil mainly at the heads, passanger side is the worst. You must be under the truck to see. Look right above the starter and towards the firewall. Check the blend door to make sure you are getting both heat and airconditioning. If 4x4 check that it is shifting into and out of 4x4. You wil hear it shift. Not a deal breaker but check the heater hose connections at the fire wall for dripping antifreeze. Could cause a miss fire on number 8 cylinder. Easy enough to fix but could be worth a few bucks. That is probly the main things for the expy other than the usual car stuff to look at. One more thing listen real careful to the rear axle for any grinding or where it feels funny around corners. Could sound like it is coming from thre front. These are good trucks and I like mine and plan on driving it for a long time yet, ut they are fluid touchy. Just need to make sure the fluids are up to date and in good shape.

Rear Wiper Motor
Radiator hose leak over cop#4 passengers side
Stuck rotors
Ball Joints
My GEM just went out. It acts like it's possesed. The heater went on and off, the windows would roll down on it's own...dash and courtesy lights on and off....I was ready to call a priest.
Some engines experience the spark plugs blowing out of the heads, due to only 3 threads in the heads.
Well I just launched my first plug on the 5.4. After all of the talk of it happening when I heard a loud bang followed by a phut-phut-phut noise I knew just what it was. Due to lack of time $400 later I was back on the road.
