Thinking about getting a lighting.

I was considering trading my '99 Grand Am GT(which i still owe about12,000 on) for a new lighting and was wanting some advice. Do this trucks make good all around vehicles, are they very reliable, And would they be alright to pull boats, and things like race cars. What type of trans do they come with? I have been seeing problems with the aode trans lately, and Jaspers trns dept says they have alot of problems. With my trade in what can I expect my payments to be, and will my insurance be anymore on this pickup than on my GT. I don't expect anyone to answer all of my questions but any advice will be appreciated.

This would be a great trade. Ford has the best domestic reliability ratings. Ford has been #1 for 25 years in a row! Towing? not a problem! Unless you plan to buy a REALLY big boat you will not even notice it is there. The Lightning does not use the AODE. In defense of the AODE, maint. is a key issue. If you don't service it don't expect it to last forever. I have a 95 (which has a lot less power) and it tows my car trailer just fine. Go ahead, you won't regret it
