Screwed up Drivers DOOR
I hung a tree and the door went back, but not all the way.
Of course it bent a couple of things.
I took the door off and straightened the hinges the best I could.
Put it back on and tried to adjust it with no luck.
Is there a process one goes through to do this?
Is there a special wrench to get to the hinge bolts while the door is mounted for adjusting.
It closes but still barely hangs the fender and it also is not in alignment,
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He put a 2x4 block about 6 inches long between the door and the frame close to the hinges. Then he leaned into the door like he was trying to close it. Took about 3 or 4 times moving the block around, but he got the door closing like new. I guess he had probably done this for 40 years. I tried it myself a few years latter when I backed down a drive way and the door came open and caught a tree. Got reasonable results. Take your time and make small adjustments.
Good luck Frank
A block of wood in the hinges may help straighten it out.
Without seeing it, it is hard to say exactly.
Perhaps you know someone at an autobody shop that can offer advice?
(edit) I see fmr9 beat me to it...
