I have a 1990 F-250HD 4x4 with 351W and 3.55gears 5sp ZF
original EVERYTHING
the performance is not there at all!
and am considering changing the gears,
I have put everything new on this engine and the only thing
left is the EGR valve is registering as bad, check engine light on.
But back to the gears I am going to put in 4.56 gears because in the winter I run 34" tires for the muddy terrain.
But at other times I don't do much highway driving at all
and when I do it is just towing at around 60 mph.
will this gear change make much difference at all and if it will a notciable difference??
treefort, I would think it would make a noticable difference.
Here's a link to a gear calculator that should give you the info you need to choose the gear ratio that's right for your truck.
