I have the Ats Aurora kit and it is worth every penny! Don't know about Banks or Hypermax though.

Best advice I can give is read the fine print.

The sticker price can be very deceiving. Surprisingly, the price is almost the same when you factor in the cost of the additional parts you will have to order to complete the kit yourself.

From what I remember (was going through the same song and dance a year ago) Hypermax does not include an exhaust system, pyrometer, or boost gauge in their price. They are all sold separately.

Of course if you took those same things out of a Banks or ATS kit, they would be in the same neighborhood of under $2000.

I would personally recommend rebuilding a used turbo, but that is just me.

Good luck,
-Dave

Dave7.3 you have a lot of turbo experiance I have been hearing on here that you can't get the internal parts for the older banks turbos. This is just a rumor isn't it. Mine is ats but I'm curious about the banks.

The banks turbos are Mitsubishis and yes, from what I've heard, it's difficult to find rebuilt kits for them (if they exist) and nigh impossible to find parts if something breaks.

i have been debating the same thing with mine, i was told that hypermax is non wastegate though is that true? guages are cheap to add and exhaust needs to be done anyways. would i be ok to run 10 psi? can i go higher or is that to high?

for a NEW kit, whats better, ats or hypermax? how hard are they to install?

I have the older ats and I think a newer one would perform better.
You should be ok at 15 pounds on that 7.3.

if you buy a used kit should you always rebuild it or does it depend on how much play it has? is there any differance between manual tranny kits, c6 kits, and e4od kits?

hypermax turbo has a small downpipe which is how they control the boost by ckoaking it up so it wont over boost, change the down pipe then it will make boost depending on if you run out of fuel or rpm or both.

The ATS kit was a pita to install. I ended up waiting to install mine until I replaced the cab....then it extremely easy.
