I have a 97 F-250 with a 460 with mild upgrades. The trans is fine...(i Think)...but I want a harder shift. I plow and pull a race car trailer with this...and the shift is so weak...(1st too 2nd suckes...2nd too 3rd....little stiffer) What I was wondering is if anyone ever installed a shift kit in one of these trans. Ive did them on chevy t-350 and 400, but never on an electronic tranny. Or is there a trick too make them shift better. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks
I saw a shift kit at advanced auto parts, I think it was about sixty bucks, plug and play from what I can tell... looked like a little box with two wires with harnesses attatched, never done it myself though
saw that too fk, was all over that but its for the 97 newer body style.....not the f-250............................................... .........BUMMER.....................thanks
does it have a stage 2 or 3 shift kit? the vaccum line goes to the tranny into a little cannister like deal. inside with these shift kits there is an adjustment screw i hav a 76 c-6 with a 5 pack clutch e 4OD conversion and a stage three shift kit. when i pull the bobcat on the duel axle trailer i dont even notice it behind me.

That's on a C6. The last year for the C6 was 1996, the question here is about a 1997 truck, which is an E4OD trans. The E4OD does not have a vacuum connection or a shift modulator, which is what you're describing.
