i have 1972 f100 with a 360. I just replaced the original carb with a remanufactured one and the truck runs but it sucks air really loudly. It's causing the idol to be inconsistent and in park the truck tends to rev up alot. any help? thanks
i agree with the other two members sounds like a vacuum leak i had the same issue with my wheels i forgot to hook up the pcv line to the base of my carb even though its a holley
the pcv line is the the thick hose going right to the back of the base of the carb right? I replaced that because it didnt seem to fit tight enough and now im pretty sure thats not the problem. I sprayed some starter fluid around the base of the carb when it was runnin and it didnt seem to affect it much i was expecting the idle to speed up when i did this. im lost on what to do now and am thinkin about replacing the base gaskets again?
did you look and see if the port vacuum under the front bowl is connected or capped ck and spray around choke linkage that might have a leak between the main body of carb and the base plate if you want pm me your number ill give you a call and welll try to figure this issue out
Well thanks for the replies everyone i just replaced both the base gaskets and it turns out they gave me the wrong one at the store. It fired up and isnt sucking air anywhere near like it was. Now just a little fine tuning and my project should be on the road, thanks everyone.
