Hi everyone, my name is Brad and this is my first post which is about some questions I have about my Grandpops truck. First of all is has a 91 Reg Cab 2WD 5-speed f150 custom. We would like to do some things to the truck. First is that we would like to get a different seat to put in the truck, which leads to my first question.....Currently we have a bench seat but we were wondering if the truck already had the holes for bucket seats and a console(from the same 87-91 or 92-96) or a bench seat from a newer 92-96(not sure if the holes are in the same location in the 92-96 as are the 87-91) that had the head rests and a fold down center armrest, just curious to which one would be no modification needed? And the second is that are truck has the basic gauge cluster but i have one with a tach in the garage....I was just curious if it was plug and play....im not sure of the year of the truck that the other came out of other than it was the same 87-91 model year...and secondly this one has higher mileage on it than ares has, is there any way to turn it back or take our speed gauge out and put it in the other? Thanks.....Brad
there is a way to take the psom off the back of the speedo you have and switch it to the one in the other truck, other than that I'm not sure if the tach is plug and play or not.
on the cluster -if it's close to the same year it should be a plug and play-on the mileage -do a search I believe you can change a chip or a card off the side to keep the mileage right!
the card is a circuit board on the back of the speedo called the programmable speed odometer module. it keeps track of the mileage and sends signals to the auto trans on when to shift... its just a few screws from what I hear, I have to do mine this weekend. shouldn't be a big deal
i rolled mine back with a dremel tool just cut the little plastic part that holds the shaft with the rollers with the numbers on it then roll it back to where you want it and put a dab of super glue or jb weld back on the plastic part and your good to go! i did mine for a different reason you are doing yours though

unfortunately that won't work on the newer ones-they are digital read out-good tip for the older ones though
well I answered some of my own questions regaurding the seat. I took the entire bench seat out today, and there are no holes for the bucket seats, only the 4 bolts for the bench and the two 2 for the seat belts, so I can not put any in without modifications, so I guess I am stuck with a bench so atleast I dont have to worry about looking for anything but that. I would really like to get a 92-96 one with the fold down arm rest and ajustable head rests just like my uncles has. I was able to measure from hole to hole which were taken from the center of the hole to the center of the other hole. The length of the seat(pass to driver side for both) is 42" and from front to back on both sides it is 15.5"(with the tape measure laying against the floor pan going up the little incline on the front of the pan across the flat part to the back hole). Could someone measure there 92-96 seat to see if they would fit....I would really appreciate it because I may not be able to make it up to my uncle before I go to the Junkyard this Saturday, so if anyone could do that I would really appreciate it.....and thanks for your replys to by the way I may just wait to do the cluster till another weekend........Brad
