Hello, First I would like to say thanks to everyone on the form for all of the great info save me alot of $$$$$!! I have a 04 f150 with the 5.4with over 130,000 miles on it. Well went out of town for 3 days and left truck at home and truck has gone wild tried to start it and it would'nt start. It turned over but did nothing it said low fuel and the needle was on E but i have a half tank tried it again and it tried to start but didnt turn the key off and was hearing a ticking noise in the dash and the needle was at half a tank what tha!! Im lost any idea's please.
This happened to my 04', but it wasn't a bad battery. I checked my cables, and my negative cable was starting to show corrosion and the connector was very brittle. I just changed both battery cables and used some good quality connectors (i had some left over from my car stereo install days that are gold plated). Works good now.
FWIW... I had similar symtoms in my truck (early '05) so the dealer felt that it fell victim to this TSB..https://www.ford-trucks.com/tsb/full...p?tsb=06-19-14. Also, a brief jumpstart would clear it up- for the time being (till they preformed the TSB action).
