Driveshaft question
I am working on my dad's 72 F100 Ranger regular cab pickup. He has had it since new and it has seen better days. But he wants to continue driving it so my son and I are trying to fix the mechanical problems with it. My question is this. I noticed that it had a two piece drive shaft with a carrier bearing. Was this part of an option package? HD, camper etc? I always assumed it to be one piece, but never actually looked under it. Thanks for any info you can give me.

Just a shot in the dark, so sorry before hand. The transmission is probably a manual and the truck is a long bed? Between the shortness of the trans compared to an auto and the wheelbase is probably why it has a two piece. Mine is a 3spd standard lwb with a two piece shaft. Kindof related. My old quad cab dakota with a stick had a 2 piece shaft where as the autos had a 1 piece shaft on the same wheelbase. Tranny is probably the dertermining factor.
