Help PLease!...2001 Explorer Sport Check engine light
About a month ago my car started making a funny noise so i took it in to get looked at. they said it was a problem with something in the back of the engine so they would have to take the engine apart to see what it was...I'm a college student and dont have much money and they said my engine was running strong so it might not be anything. And then today there was a shutter in the engine that made the car shake and and the throttle had a lot of hesitation. I wanted to get it home so i drove it anyways and 5 mins into the drive it shook again and the check engine light came on. Does anyone have any idea about what might be wrong? let me know soon please

more information: 6 cyl.,8cyl.?? how many miles?? you should try to get some to read the fault codes (obdII),.If the car is 6cyl. what they may be talking about is cam shaft synchronizerin the rear of the engine .this cmp sensor sets the signal for the fuel injecter.when this starts to fail it makes a chirping noise. it has a electric device with magnet attacthed ,the magnet falls off and the engine light comes on.this does not normally cause the engine to buck or vibrate .this is only a guess to your problem
