Dashdaq & 99-2003 7.3 PSD ?
I’ve investigated the Dashdaq site fairly throughly. And I still can’t tell 100% for sure this would work on my 2000 F-350 7.3 PSD. I am 98% sure but feel there are probably parameters that won’t be available from the ECU to the Dashdaq that are available to latter model Ford trucks like 6.0 & 6.4?
It’s on the pricey side so wouldn’t want to make the mistake of finding it won’t do as advertised on my truck after purchase. I like the ability to monitor a ton of gauges and customize them to boot, and I would also consider the GPS NAV option.
I think with this you don't need anything additional to tell you the specific code. Not just a number. They include quite a few generic codes but you have to buy the Ford license extra for the others. I don't even know if the extras are even available on our trucks?
As a theft deterrent I was even thinking my dash slide out cup holder could be modified or re-fabbed to mount & house the Dashdaq so you could slide it into the dash when you parked the vehicle?
I’m hoping some of the brains on here would come on and throw in their .02 cents as to how this might be/or not applied to our 7.3 PSD’s ? Of course there is alott of information in the two links to digest but I'd sure like to know from those smarter than me (that's everybody) what they think this will or will not be able to do.
And yes I do know it will play music, and movies and video games too!

When we get together for the install I will show you the scan gauge, very slick set-up.

I can nail this down with a phone call or email to their support or contact numbers. I'll have to do that. He's off to look for 800 numbers! Durn no 800 number and it looks like their in Ann Harbor MI. So Eastern time there probably closed.
I found this number (734) 222-5228
I had to dig for that as it was their Drewtech headquarters contact number. That means who ever you get might not be able to tell you what it is you want to know as they seem to have a bunch of products. Well maybe I'll try them tomorrow. It's hard for me to explain stuff in an email and I never think of all the questions I have till later. Thanks for the info guys.

Per Mike our trucks may not have as many parameters to monitor as some of the later trucks. But it sounds like he indicates there is still a wealth of info available for the 7.3. Mike also stated the parameters that are measured may not be measured as quickly as they are on some of the newer trucks.
Regarding monitoring MPG and trip data and area of interest to me Mike said it can be monitored and measured it just took more work? I advised Mike of our topic here on FTE and advised him where to look. But I did forget to mention the title of this thread. Maybe I'll try to email that to him also.
I advised Mike that I for one would be interested in the Dashdaq if it was able to measure, monitor and display allot of parameters for my truck. I liked the idea or possibility of inserting a SmartCard and logging a long trip with my camper and horse trailer and then down loading it to my PC and being able to see my engine temps, fuel usage, etc. over the course of the trip.
Here's an idea for the engineers.....what if you could tap into the GPS aspect of your trip and have the recorded parameters mated to your GPS. It would be interesting to compare where I crossed the mountain passes as opposed to those straight level stretches of high desert or running against a fifty mile an hour west wind through the Columbia River Gorge! You could see the increase in EGT fuel consumption and the guys with automatic trans could monitor their parameters and correlate it with the topography!
Then you could download your trip data to a program like National Geographic State Maps and which will draw a path on a topo map where you could see your engine temps, egts, and trans and oil temps were doing while climbing that ten mile 6 % grade! How cool would that be!!!
Anyhow I asked Mike to try and investigate what the Dashdaq could do for our 1999-2003 7.3 diesels. In fairness it sounds like the Dashdaq product is aimed more at the car market than the diesel truck market.
By the same token there seems to be many areas of commonality that may make it worth it. When Mike gets the info together and sends it to me in an email; I will update this thread.
We might even get lucky and have Mike register and weigh in. I warned him that there allot of really smart folks here and thought that if the Dashdaq could do allot of what it says that there may be allot of potential customers that would look at their product. So now we go to a wait and see mode.
For a sick guy you sound ok to me!
